Association between chronic bronchitis and increased breast cancer risk in female patients.

Respiratory diseases and breast cancer both pose significant threats to women's health, but the association between them remains unclear. This analysis utilised data including 25,132 adult female participants. After adjusting variables, a logistic regression model assessed the association between respiratory diseases and breast cancer risk. We investigated the nonlinear dose-response relationship between pulmonary function tests and breast cancer, and analysed the association of pulmonary function test with breast cancer risk across different racial groups. We explored the heterogeneous characteristics of key metabolic and inflammatory markers in different groups. In the fully adjusted model, chronic bronchitis was associated with prevalent breast cancer. Restricted cubic spline curve revealed elevated breast cancer risk when pulmonary function test met the following thresholds: FEF25-75% < 2,405 ml/s, FEV1/FVC < 0.794, and FEV3/FVC < 0.926, with stronger associations between pulmonary function and breast cancer risk found among non-Hispanic whites and blacks. Serum lipid metabolism and inflammation markers showed significant elevation. Chronic bronchitis exhibits a potential correlation with breast cancer risk. In non-Hispanic whites and non-Hispanic blacks, declining pulmonary function may associate with increased breast cancer risk.

Assessment of knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding TB prevention and treatment among college students in Wuhan, central China.

Tuberculosis (TB) is recognized as a serious public health concern in many developing countries. As the new main force and inheritors of national health construction, college students bear important social responsibilities and missions of practicing TB prevention and control, volunteer mobilization, and health concept dissemination. Improving college students' health literacy is crucial to preventing and treating infectious diseases. This study aims to assess college students' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) about TB prevention and treatment in Wuhan, China. A descriptive cross-sectional study survey among college students was conducted from May to June 2022 at 22 colleges using the judgment sampling method in Wuhan. KAP regarding TB was recorded and assessed using an online questionnaire platform. The status quo of KAP regarding TB prevention and treatment was statistically described, and the formation of students' TB prevention and treatment behavior was analyzed using single-factor and multifactor logistic regression. A total of 15,290 college students completed the questionnaire, and 15,272 valid questionnaires were collected. The total awareness rate of knowledge, attitudes, and practices of TB prevention and treatment was 79.69%. Among them, the awareness rate of key knowledge was 79.28%, and the passing rate was 92.46%. The holding rate of correct attitudes was 89.69%, and the passing rate was 90.56%. The formation rate of correct behaviors was 72.11%, and the passing rate was 96.62%. A single-factor analysis showed that gender, grade, parents' education level, contact history of TB patients, and passing rate of key knowledge were statistically different in the formation of prevention and treatment behaviors. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that for females (odds ratio [OR] = 1.86, 95% CI [1.50, 2.30], p < 0.01), students with father's educational background of primary school (OR = 2.94, 95%CI [1.62, 5.33], p < 0.01), junior school and equivalent (OR = 2.94, 95%CI [1.62, 5.33], p < 0.01), high school and equivalent (OR = 3.05, 95%CI [1.70, 5.46], p < 0.01), and diploma or undergraduate (OR = 3.24, 95% CI [1.73, 6.09], p < 0.01); no history of TB (OR = 3.32, 95% CI [1.49, 7.41], p < 0.01); a passing key knowledge score (OR = 9.91, 95% CI [8.11, 12.11], p < 0.01); and a passing attitude score (OR = 7.35, 95% CI [6.01, 8.99], p < 0.01) were likely to form TB prevention and treatment behaviors. School health promotion should not only focus on improving students' personal knowledge and skills of TB prevention and treatment but also emphasize the level of family participation, strengthen the comprehensive mobilization action of schools, formulate policies to support health action, create a supportive social environment, and radiate the health education effect of students to the whole society.

High-throughput in silico multi-epitope reverse vaccine design against hydatidosis.

The Middle East is a significant hotspot for human hydatidosis caused by Echinococcus granulosus, a complex multi-stage pathogen exhibiting antigenic variation with diverse epitopes. Multi-epitope vaccines, designed using immunoinformatics, represent a promising approach to effectively control this challenging parasite. A total of 1150 secreted, non-toxic, antigenic proteins were obtained from database and analyzed for their immunogenic potential, leading to the identification of 1024 CTL, 80 HTL, and 172 LBL prioritized epitopes, which were then ranked and clustered to prefer the most immunogenicity epitopes to include in novel vaccine construct. The chosen Construct (Con2) was modified for dual-plasmid insertion, facilitating the expression of three different vaccine constructs which were predicted by C-ImmSim to stimulate robust IFN-γ/IL-2 production and enhance IgM/IgG antibody secretion. Utilizing in silico, next-generation vaccine design, we propose several vaccine candidates that warrant further validation through in vitro laboratory testing and in vivo studies to assess their immunological efficacy.

PotatoRTD and TomatoRTD: Comprehensive Reference Transcript Datasets for Accurate Transcriptome Analysis and Isoform Discovery.

Transcriptome annotations provide essential information on transcript locations, sequences and structures, including transcription start, end sites and splice junctions. They underpin key biological analyses such as gene and transcript quantification, and the study of transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation, including alternative transcription initiation, polyadenylation and splicing. Accurate characterisation of transcript isoforms is critical for understanding how gene expression relates to functional protein products. However, for many species-including Solanaceae crops such as potato and tomato-current annotations suffer from limited isoform coverage, with tens or hundreds of thousands of splice junctions and transcript isoforms missing. This undermines the completeness and accuracy of transcript-level analyses. Here, by generating Iso-seq and RNA-seq on a range of tissues and samples, we have produced transcriptome annotations for both potato and tomato with improved coverage, diversity, accurate splice junctions, and transcript start and end sites. We have also made these high-quality resources accessible through genome browsers. These enhanced annotations will enable more accurate transcriptome analyses, supporting higher-resolution and novel biological discoveries.

Lymphatic Imaging and Interventions in Children: Current Practice.

To provide a decision-oriented overview of clinical manifestations, imaging strategies, and minimallyinvasive treatment of pediatric lymphatic flow disorders. Current practice in fluoroscopic lymphangiography, dynamic contrast-enhanced magneticresonance lymphangiography, and image-guided interventions was reviewed, emphasizing congenital heart disease,complex lymphatic anomalies, procedural adaptations, and safety. Lymphatic flow disorders can cause chylous eff usions, plastic bronchitis, protein-losing enteropathy, andlymphedema. Modern imaging enables high-resolution assessment of anatomy and abnormal flow and guidesselective interventions. Small clinical series report favorable outcomes after selective embolization of abnormallymphatic channels; however, inappropriate or nonselective embolization may worsen lymphatic failure. Accurate clinical characterization, tailored imaging, and treatment in experienced multidisciplinarycenters are essential for safe, individualized management.

RNA-Binding Proteins: Function, Biological Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities.

RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) are central regulators of post‑transcriptional gene expression, controlling RNA stability, localization, translation, and alternative splicing. Their functions arise not only from intrinsic RNA-binding domains but also from dynamic interactions with noncoding RNAs, metabolites, cofactors, and other RBPs. Here, we summarize the structural diversity and core biological activities of canonical and noncanonical RBPs, and delineate how competitive and cooperative regulatory networks dictate RBP function in disease, with an emphasis on cancer. Competitive mechanisms, including lncRNA-mediated sequestration, antagonistic crosstalk between miRNAs and RBPs, and competition among RBPs for shared substrates, can redirect RNA fate. In contrast, cooperative mechanisms assemble multimolecular ribonucleoprotein complexes that reinforce oncogenic or tumor-suppressive programs. Dysregulation of these networks promotes proliferation, metastasis, immune evasion, and therapy resistance. We also review emerging therapeutic strategies that target RBP-centered regulatory circuits, including antisense oligonucleotides, small molecules, protein degraders, and natural products, and we evaluate representative preclinical studies and clinical trials. By integrating mechanistic principles with translational evidence, this review provides a network-based framework for exploiting RBPs as therapeutic vulnerabilities and for advancing next-generation precision oncology.
