Nov. 5, 2026: MetaVia Inc. (NASDAQ: MTVA) reported positive interim Day 109 data from Part 3B of its Phase 1 randomized, placebo-controlled trial of DA-1726, a weekly GLP-1/glucagon dual agonist, in otherwise healthy adults with obesity. In an MRI substudy (n=12 active, 4 placebo), DA-1726 produced a 68% placebo-adjusted reduction in liver fat by MRI-PDFF (GMR 0.32; p<0.001); 10/12 treated participants achieved at least a 30% relative liver fat reduction, versus 0/4 on placebo, and all five treated participants with baseline steatosis (MRI-PDFF ≥5%) fell below 5% by Day 109. Body weight fell 12.19 kg (11.9%) from baseline, or 13.5% placebo-adjusted (p<0.001), and HbA1c declined from 5.79% to 5.33%, a 0.24 percentage-point placebo-adjusted reduction (95% CI -0.41 to -0.07; p=0.006). VAT, ASAT, and total adipose tissue were reduced 19%-22% versus placebo, with relative preservation of lean tissue.
Safety: no GI adverse event-related discontinuations and no new GI adverse events after Week 9; one serious adverse event of severe vomiting was considered possibly treatment-related and resolved.
The data were presented Nov. 4, 2026 at the Precision Liver Symposium. Full Part 3A/3B data are expected in Q1 2027. MetaVia plans a 48-week, non-biopsy Phase 2 study in up to 150 patients with MetALD and ALD starting in 2H 2027. The company also said vanoglipel (DA-1241) plus resmetirom is targeted to enter a Phase 2a proof-of-concept study in MASH in 1H 2027.
