November 2, 2026: Teva Pharmaceuticals (NYSE/TASE: TEVA) said it will discontinue the Phase 2 TOPAS-MSA trial (NCT06568237) of emrusolmin (TEV-286) in adults with multiple system atrophy after an independent data monitoring committee recommended stopping the study based on a prespecified interim futility analysis. The predictive interim analysis met the predefined futility criterion, indicating a low probability of achieving the primary efficacy endpoint if the study continued; no safety concerns were identified.
TOPAS-MSA was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2 study planned to enroll about 350 participants, comparing emrusolmin 300 mg versus placebo for about 48 weeks. The primary endpoint was change from baseline to Week 48 in modified Unified Multiple System Atrophy Rating Scale Part I score.
Teva said this was not the final efficacy analysis and does not represent a final decision on the broader emrusolmin program. The company, which is developing emrusolmin with MODAG GmbH, will conduct a comprehensive analysis of TOPAS-MSA data and available data from the separate Phase 2 open-label extension study (NCT07197866) and plans to share findings with the scientific community after that analysis.
