October 12, 2026: CervoMed (NASDAQ: CRVO) reported initial 12-week biomarker data from the open-label portion of its Phase 2a neflamapimod trial in nonfluent variant primary progressive aphasia (nfvPPA), presented in a late-breaking oral session at the 15th International Society of Frontotemporal Dementias Annual Meeting.
In 25 enrolled patients, 18/25 (72%) had elevated baseline plasma neurofilament light (NfL) and 4/25 (16%) had elevated GFAP. Mean baseline NfL was 45.7 pg/mL and GFAP 103.4 pg/mL. Over 12 weeks, mean plasma NfL declined by about 3.1 pg/mL, with most of the reduction between weeks 6 and 12; in an exploratory subgroup with baseline NfL at or above the median (n=13), mean NfL declined about 5.7 pg/mL. GFAP was stable over 12 weeks.
Neflamapimod was generally well tolerated, with no new safety signals identified. One asymptomatic patient discontinued for elevated liver enzymes; the elevation resolved after stopping treatment.
The 36-week study includes 24 weeks of open-label neflamapimod followed by a 12-week randomized withdrawal period. Upcoming catalysts: 24-week biomarker data at CTAD in November 2026 and topline clinical data in Q1 2027. The company also said it expects first patient dosing in the Phase 2a EXPERTS-ALS trial in Q4 2026.
