Oct. 06, 2026: Caribou Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRBU) said it is exploring strategic alternatives, including a merger, acquisition, business combination, or other transaction, and plans to discontinue further development of its allogeneic CAR-T programs vispa-cel and CB-011. Wedbush Securities was engaged as exclusive financial advisor; no timeline was given for the review.

For vispa-cel (formerly CB-010), an allogeneic anti-CD19 CAR-T for relapsed/refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Caribou said the program was “pivotal trial-ready,” with FDA alignment already reached on the Phase 3 trial design. The program has RMAT, Fast Track, and Orphan Drug designations.

For CB-011, an allogeneic anti-BCMA CAR-T for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma, Caribou said Phase 1 CaMMouflage data had shown potential for deep, durable responses. The program has RMAT, Fast Track, and Orphan Drug designations.

The company said the decision reflects financing challenges for allogeneic CAR-T programs rather than a stated lack of belief in the assets. Caribou also plans a substantial workforce reduction, expected to be mostly complete in Q4 2026, and reported $113.8 million in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities as of June 30, 2026.
