October 6, 2026: Akebia Therapeutics (NASDAQ: AKBA) announced upcoming presentations at ASN Kidney Week 2026 in Denver (October 21-25, 2026), covering vadadustat/Vafseo and rare kidney disease pipeline programs.
Vadadustat/Vafseo: U.S. Renal Care will give a late-breaking presentation on October 23, 2026 on the VOICE trial evaluating the safety of three-times-weekly vadadustat versus an erythropoiesis-stimulating agent in patients receiving in-center hemodialysis. Akebia will also present posters on October 23-24 on hospitalization cost analysis for vadadustat vs. darbepoetin alfa based on the Phase 3 INNO2VATE trials, and analyses of major adverse cardiovascular events by once-daily vs. three-times-weekly vadadustat dosing and by vadadustat exposure (Cmax) in dialysis-dependent CKD. The release states Vafseo is approved in 37 countries and indicated for anemia due to CKD in adults on dialysis for at least three months.
Rare kidney disease pipeline: Posters include preclinical praliciguat data in focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) on October 22, a Phase 2 trial of praliciguat in FSGS on October 24, and a Phase 2 open-label basket trial of ebribafusp alfa in complement-mediated kidney diseases on October 24.
