Sept. 21, 2026: Armata Pharmaceuticals (NYSE: ARMP) announced an oral presentation at ISSSI 2026 on AP-SA02, its investigational bacteriophage cocktail for adjunct treatment of complicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia (MSSA/MRSA). The presented genomic and in vitro data showed AP-SA02 contains a defined, reproducible profile of genetic variants; certain variants became enriched when component phages were grown on S. aureus isolates from the Phase 1b/2a diSArm study, and a phage stock lacking these variants had reduced activity against select clinical isolates. Armata said it intentionally preserves this controlled genetic diversity across clinical drug product lots through manufacturing.
The company said these findings support controlled genetic diversity as an important product attribute that may improve AP-SA02 activity across diverse MRSA and MSSA isolates. The data were presented Sept. 21, 2026, in Podium Session 2 at the 20th International Symposium on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections in Banff, Canada.
The announcement also cited positive Phase 2a diSArm results, stating 100% of AP-SA02-treated participants with an evaluable end-of-study assessment achieved a complete clinical response. AP-SA02 has FDA QIDP, Fast Track, and Breakthrough Therapy designations. Armata plans to initiate a Phase 3 superiority study in complicated S. aureus bacteremia in the second half of 2026.
