VASCEPA (icosapent ethyl) - (REDUCE-IT)

Aug. 28, 2026: Amarin Corporation plc (NASDAQ: AMRN) reported a new post hoc REDUCE-IT analysis presented at ESC Congress 2026 on icosapent ethyl (IPE; VASCEPA/VAZKEPA) in statin-treated patients with elevated triglycerides and high cardiovascular risk.

In the original REDUCE-IT intention-to-treat population (n=8,179), IPE reduced the primary composite endpoint by 25% versus placebo. In participants who remained on study drug for at least 1.5 years (“high adherers,” n=6,921), IPE was associated with approximately 29-30% relative risk reduction in the primary endpoint, with similar findings in the secondary prevention population.

The analysis also examined a possible “legacy effect.” In the secondary prevention cohort, 1,318 participants who took study drug for at least three months and then discontinued treatment after a mean 2.3 years maintained separation of Kaplan-Meier event curves through follow-up, with an HR of 0.73. A similar HR of 0.73 was reported for cardiovascular events after discontinuation, suggesting no apparent diminution of benefit over one to four years off therapy (mean 2.1 years off drug).

Amarin described the findings as exploratory and supportive of long-term adherence and durable cardiovascular benefit.
