Aug. 27, 2026: Verrica Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: VRCA) said it completed enrollment in COVE-2, the first pivotal Phase 3 trial in its global program evaluating YCANTH (VP-102/TO-208) for common warts. A per-protocol interim statistical power analysis by an independent statistician found no additional patients were recommended for full enrollment; the study remains blinded.
The company also said the second pivotal Phase 3 trial, COVE-3, has exceeded 50% of its current target enrollment. Topline data from COVE-2 are expected in Q1 2027, with remaining topline data for the program expected by mid-2027.
The Phase 3 program consists of two double-blind, randomized, vehicle-controlled studies testing YCANTH once every 21 days for up to four applications in patients aged 2 years and older with common warts. COVE-2 is U.S.-only; COVE-3 is enrolling in the U.S. and Japan. The program also includes supportive long-term follow-up study COVE-4 and pharmacokinetics study COVE-5. Based on Phase 3 results, Verrica and partner Torii plan to seek marketing approval in the U.S. and Japan, respectively.
