AL001-BD01 - (Lithium in Brain)

Aug. 20, 2026: Alzamend Neuro, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALZN) said an abstract on AL001 was accepted for poster presentation at Neuroscience 2026 (Society for Neuroscience) in Washington, DC. The poster, titled “Assessing Treatment-Associated Brain Network Changes Following a Novel Lithium Treatment Using 7T Resting-State fMRI – Results from a Randomized Phase 1/2A Clinical Trial,” is scheduled for Nov. 18, 2026, in the Neuropsychiatric Disorders session.

The presentation will report 7T resting-state fMRI findings on treatment-associated brain network connectivity changes in healthy subjects from Alzamend’s completed randomized Phase 1/2A crossover trial of AL001, its ionic cocrystal lithium formulation. The study used AB/BA crossover sequences comparing AL001 with lithium carbonate, with 14-day treatment periods, 14-day washout, and Days 14–15 pharmacokinetic blood sampling plus MRI/MRS neuroimaging.

According to the company, the study confirmed AL001 matched blood levels of standard lithium carbonate, which it said addresses FDA regulatory requirements for a new drug formulation, while suggesting a potential dose-sparing profile through enhanced lithium delivery to targeted brain regions with lower systemic exposure. The company also noted AL001 is being developed for bipolar disorder and potentially Alzheimer’s disease, major depressive disorder, and PTSD.
