AL001-BD01 - (Lithium in Brain)

August 18, 2026: Alzamend Neuro (NASDAQ: ALZN) said an abstract on AL001 was accepted for an oral presentation at the ISMRM Workshop on Beyond Protons: Challenges and Advances in X-Nuclei MR, to be held September 28–October 1, 2026 in Barcelona; the presentation is scheduled for September 29, 2026.

The abstract, “Pharmacokinetics Imaging of Lithium at 7T – Results from a Phase 1/2A Clinical Trial with a Novel Organic Lithium Salt” (Abstract #00047), will present 7T pharmacokinetic imaging data from a completed Phase 1/2A trial of AL001 in healthy volunteers. The randomized crossover study used multiple six-subject cohorts assigned to AL001 then lithium carbonate or the reverse, with 14 days of three-times-daily dosing per period and a 14-day washout. On Days 14–15, participants underwent 24-hour blood PK sampling plus MRI/MRS neuroimaging.

According to the release, the study assessed whether AL001 could improve lithium delivery to targeted brain regions while reducing systemic exposure versus lithium carbonate. The company said results showed AL001 matched blood levels of standard lithium carbonate, which it said addresses FDA requirements for a new drug formulation, and suggested a potential dose-sparing profile.
