Aug. 17, 2026: Can-Fite BioPharma Ltd. (NYSE: CANF; TASE: CANF) reported preclinical findings that namodenoson enhanced gemcitabine’s anti-cancer effect in pancreatic cancer by increasing cleaved caspase-3, supporting greater apoptosis and reduced tumor-cell survival. The company said these mechanistic data support the design of its planned randomized Phase IIb study of namodenoson plus gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel in advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
The announcement builds on prior Phase IIa pancreatic cancer results, which the company described as showing favorable safety and encouraging clinical activity with namodenoson monotherapy. Can-Fite also said clinical results from that Phase IIa study have been accepted for presentation at the ESMO Congress 2026.
Other program updates mentioned: namodenoson is in a pivotal Phase 3 trial for advanced liver cancer and a Phase 2b trial in MASH; piclidenoson recently reported topline Phase 3 psoriasis results and has commenced a pivotal Phase 3 trial.
