August 10, 2026: Artelo Biosciences (Nasdaq: ARTL) announced first patient dosed in the investigator-led DREAM Phase 2 study of ART27.13 in glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The trial, funded by Glaucoma UK and the HSC R&D Division, is sponsored by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and run by the Northern Ireland Clinical Trials Unit.
ART27.13 is an orally administered, peripherally selective synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonist intended to lower intraocular pressure by activating cannabinoid receptors in ocular tissues while avoiding CNS-related psychotropic effects. Initial DREAM results are anticipated in Q4 2026.
The release also notes ART27.13’s ongoing Phase 2 CAReS study in cancer anorexia/weight loss. Interim Phase 2 data cited in the release showed that patients who had lost at least 5% of body weight and were titrated to the highest 1300 µg dose gained an average 6% body weight over 12 weeks, while placebo patients lost about 5%. The company states there is currently no FDA-approved treatment for cancer anorexia cachexia syndrome.
ART27.13 has previously been studied in seven clinical studies involving more than 280 participants.
