COMP360 psilocybin

July 16, 2026: Compass Pathways plc (NASDAQ: CMPS) announced publication in the Journal of Psychopharmacology of a post-hoc analysis from an open-label Phase 2 study of investigational COMP360 synthetic psilocybin in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The analysis evaluated monitoring and support methods used during treatment administration sessions and found interactions were minimal and non-directive: 78% of session time was spent in silence, with support primarily described by patients as presence/availability, reassurance, validation, and physical proximity, rather than therapist-led dialogue. Participants generally sustained inward focus and self-navigated the experience without the support provider redirecting or reinterpreting it.

The company stated these findings distinguish its trial support from conventional psychotherapy and argued it is incorrect to describe its approach as “psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy.” The release also notes Compass has a systematic training and mentoring program to standardize monitoring and support across COMP360 trials in treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and PTSD, including manualized training, breath/body awareness techniques, short verbal cues, and physical proximity.
