CardiolRx - (MAvERIC)

July 14, 2026: Cardiol Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ/TSX: CRDL) announced publication of Phase II MAvERIC study results for CardiolRx in the Journal of the American Heart Association (JAHA), as enrollment in its pivotal Phase III MAVERIC trial is nearing completion. The JAHA paper reports that CardiolRx was associated with rapid and sustained reductions in pericarditis pain and inflammation in patients with high baseline disease burden, substantial reductions in pericarditis episodes per year, and a favorable safety/tolerability profile. These findings are described as providing the clinical rationale for the ongoing randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase III MAVERIC trial (NCT06708299) evaluating CardiolRx to reduce risk of recurrent pericarditis recurrence; Cardiol notes the Phase II findings previously were presented at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions. The company also stated the U.S. FDA has granted Orphan Drug Designation to CardiolRx for pericarditis (including recurrent pericarditis). Additional pipeline context included the completed Phase II ARCHER study (NCT05180240) of CardiolRx in acute myocarditis and development of CRD-38, a subcutaneous formulation for inflammatory heart disease including heart failure.
