ART27.13 - (CAReS)

July 13, 2026: Artelo Biosciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARTL) reported promising nonclinical neuropathic pain results for ART27.13, its peripherally restricted dual cannabinoid (CB1/CB2) receptor agonist currently in Phase 2 development for cancer-related anorexia cachexia syndrome (CACS). In a paclitaxel-induced peripheral neuropathy animal model, repeated dosing reduced neuropathic pain-associated behaviors (mechanical allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia) in both male and female animals. The pain study results were presented at the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS) 2026 Annual Symposium (Dijon, France).

The company also referenced interim findings from the blinded, randomized CAReS Phase 2 clinical study (within the Phase 1/2 Cancer Appetite Recovery Study), previously presented at ICRS, showing encouraging trends including improvements in body weight, lean body mass, and activity levels, with a favorable safety profile at doses up to 1300 µg/day. An interim analysis cited a mean weight gain of over 6% at the top dose versus a 5% loss with placebo.

Artelo said it has incorporated several pain endpoints into the ongoing CAReS trial and plans to review them upon study completion to assess clinical translation in cancer supportive care.
