July 1, 2026: Artelo Biosciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARTL) reported positive new preclinical data for ART26.12, its selective fatty acid binding protein 5 (FABP5) inhibitor, in neuropathic pain following spinal cord injury. The results are being presented at the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS) 2026 Annual Symposium in Dijon, France, in a talk titled “Inhibition of Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5 Alleviates Neuropathic Pain Following Spinal Cord Injury in Mice,” delivered by Martin Kaczocha, Ph.D. (Stony Brook University).

In a validated mouse model of spinal cord injury–induced neuropathic pain, selective FABP5 inhibition with ART26.12 reduced mechanical hypersensitivity, decreased spontaneous pain-related behaviors, suppressed nociceptor hyperexcitability, and improved pain outcomes after oral administration.

The company said these findings broaden the potential utility of ART26.12 beyond previously reported painful neuropathies and support continued development; ART26.12 is currently progressing in Phase 1 and is initially being developed for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN).
