June 29, 2026: Artelo Biosciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARTL) reported two presentations at the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS) 2026 Annual Symposium supporting development of ART26.12, its selective fatty acid binding protein 5 (FABP5) inhibitor being developed initially for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN).
ART26.12 Phase 1 (first-in-human; single ascending oral doses in healthy volunteers): The company presented safety and pharmacokinetic results showing ART26.12 was generally well tolerated across all evaluated dose levels, with predictable, linear, dose-dependent pharmacokinetics and dose-proportional systemic exposure. Plasma concentrations exceeded projected therapeutic levels based on preclinical efficacy studies, with a wide margin between anticipated therapeutic exposures and maximum tolerated doses.
Biomarker/target engagement work: Using plasma samples from the Phase 1 study plus preclinical proteomic/lipidomic databases, AI/ML-aided analyses identified treatment-related changes across multiple pathways (including lipid metabolism, inflammation, extracellular matrix regulation, phospholipid signaling, and triglyceride metabolism) to support development of pharmacodynamic biomarkers for target engagement and future clinical development.
