Bemnifosbuvir and ruzasvir (RZR) - (C-FORWARD)

June 25, 2026: Atea Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVIR) announced completion of patient enrollment in C-FORWARD, a randomized, open-label Phase 3 trial outside North America evaluating the fixed-dose oral regimen bemnifosbuvir + ruzasvir (BEM/RZR) for chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in treatment-naïve patients. C-FORWARD enrolled >880 patients across ~120 sites in 17 countries and is a head-to-head study versus sofosbuvir/velpatasvir. BEM/RZR dosing is once daily for 8 weeks (no cirrhosis) or 12 weeks (compensated cirrhosis), while sofosbuvir/velpatasvir is 12 weeks for all patients. The primary endpoint is HCV RNA < LLOQ at 24 weeks from treatment start (encompassing SVR12), assessed in the per-protocol population. Topline C-FORWARD results are expected around year-end 2026.

The company also said topline results from C-BEYOND (Phase 3 in the U.S. and Canada) remain on track for mid-year 2026.

Separately, Atea anticipates initiating clinical development of AT-587 for hepatitis E virus (HEV) in mid-2026.
